Meet Amina ๐
The Hair Deli was founded to provide practical organic solutions for those encountering difficulties in growing and retaining hair length. I harbored a deep interest in hair growth early on but once believed "black girls" could not obtain waist length hair due to genetics. A myth that had been told to me by many people throughout the years. I must admit coarse, coily and kinky hair types are faced with more challenges in retaining length compared to other ethnicities. However, making excuses for hair challenges often mask the potential for growth and length retention.
I began experimenting with various products and techniques tailored for natural ethnic hair types. Despite always having fairly thick hair (compared to my peers), I found it challenging to grow it past shoulder length. During childhood, I wore a "puff" ponytail due to restrictions on what styles I could wear and having an extremely โtender scalpโ. In high school, I started exploring different hairstyles, which ultimately led to hair loss due to excessive tension, and heat. My hair became extremely dry and brittle.
While in college, my roommate Bre introduced me to various natural styling methods and products such as Bantu knots and twist outs. I immersed myself in YouTube tutorials, developing a strong interest in hair growth. With determination and consistency I began to see progress, marking the milestone with a photo taken by my college roommate Danni (left photo).
After years of experimenting with styles and products I found the most beneficial products were natural extracts and organic oils. Whether straight, curly or coily The Hair Deli has what you need to not only promote but stimulate hair growth.ย
